How does the Career Journey work?

The Career Journey gives your career exploration a framework. What matters within it depends on your situation.

1
FIND YOUR BEARINGSWhere am I now – and what is on my mind?Starting point · focus · goal
234
CLARIFY & DEVELOPWhat do I want – and what do I need for it?Reflection · possibilities · decisions · experimentation
5
REVIEW & LOOK AHEADWhat is clearer – and what comes next?Initial review · decision · next steps · open questions

Your path does not have to be a straight line to be right for you.

Your topics

What can we work on?

During the Career Journey, we work on your professional questions. These five areas offer a map of possible topics, rather than a checklist.

ME.What can I do – and what matters to me?Strengths · values · needs · skills
MY SITUATION.Where am I right now?Role · environment · satisfaction · pressure for change
MY POSSIBILITIES.What could my next step be?Options · perspectives · opportunities · alternatives
MY DECISION.What do I really want?Priorities · doubts · weighing options · clarity
MY PATH.How do I start taking action?Next steps · experimentation · putting insights into practice · adjustment

Coaching, rather than a career plan prescribed by someone else

What is the difference between career coaching and career advice?

Career coaching supports you in finding your own answers and making your own decisions. Career advice places more emphasis on external recommendations, information or practical guidance.

ADVICEWhat is recommended to me?Information · assessment · recommendations
COACHINGWhat is right for me?Reflection · clarity · your own decision

I don’t have your answers. But I do have some very good questions.

Quick answers

Questions about the Career Journey.

Who is the Career Journey for?

The Career Journey is for people who want to reflect on their career path, make a decision or shape a change.

  • You wonder whether you are still in the right place professionally.
  • You want to find out what you really want.
  • You are facing a career decision or change.
  • You want a clearer view of your strengths, values and priorities.
  • You have several options and do not yet know which is right for you.

You do not need to know the destination or the answer at the start.

Do I need to know which career path I want to take already?

No, you do not need to know which career path you want to take yet. Finding that direction can be part of the Career Journey.

What topics can we explore in career coaching?

Topics may include career direction, strengths, values, roles, decisions, desired changes, priorities or practical next steps.

Does the Career Journey include job application advice?

The Career Journey is not a conventional job application training programme. If applications are part of your current situation, the underlying questions and decisions can of course be part of the coaching.

What happens between sessions?

Between sessions, you can reflect on insights, explore possibilities, have conversations or try out new steps, then bring those experiences back into coaching.

Your next step

What would you like to move forward in your career?

You may already know the direction. Or you may still be looking for it. Either is a good place to start.
